REFLECTION
Experience
Through these tasks, I slowly realized how minimalist design impacts user experience. Before this, I rarely paid attention to the design of apps, I just used them without much thought. However, while exploring the minimalist design elements on social media such as Instagram and Facebook, I began to notice the subtle differences in how these two apps implement design elements.
Observation
Through exploring Instagram and Facebook apps, I found that they use different layouts. Instagram uses grid layout while Facebook uses modular layout. Instagram uses grid layout with clear image and minimal text which allows users to quickly discover the content and focus on visuals. Facebook grid layout content is organized into different modules which provide a more structured navigation. Through the survey, I realised that it is important in minimalist design. This taught me how minimalist design can significantly impact the overall user experience on different apps.
Findings
I found that minimalist design improves user satisfaction and navigation across different apps. Instagram is more popular among younger users due to its straightforward design and visual appeal. While Facebook provides diverse features and a modular layout which attract users. Both apps' different design choices have their own attraction of users. Their design meets the preferences of different users.
