EXERCISES

Exercise 1: My most favourite video game

Subway Sufers

1. Brief Explanation of the Gameplay

Subway Surfers is a fast-paced real-time endless runner game that first launched in 2012. Players control a young graffiti artist (like Jake), who runs along metro tracks to escape from a grumpy inspector and his dog. Along the way, players collect gold coins, dodge trains, leap between tracks, ride hoverboards, and grab exciting power-ups.

There’s no finish line — the goal is to keep going as long as you can without crashing!

2. How to play?

  • Swipe left/right 👈 👉 to change lanes
  • Swipe up ⏫ to jump over barriers
  • Swipe down ⏬ to roll under obstacles
  • Double-tap to activate a hoverboard (temporary protection)
3. Why Subway Surfers is My Favourite Video Game

I love how the game is easy to play, but also challenging. Besides, the smooth swiping, cool hoverboards, and fun power-ups make me feel like I’m really zooming through the city. I can unlock new characters as I play, making the game feel like a new adventure every time. Some characters even have special outfits and looks, which makes me feel like I'm customizing my experience.

Exercise2: Non-digital to digital - Evolution and remediating this game

UNO

1. Brief Explanation of the Gameplay

UNO is a classic turn-based card game. Each player starts with 7 colorful cards and takes turns placing a card that matches the color or number of the one on top of the discard pile. There are also special action cards like Skip, Reverse, Draw Two, Wild, and the Wild Draw Four, which make the game more exciting and unpredictable.. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins — but don’t forget to shout "UNO!" when you're down to one card!

2. Evolution and Remediating UNO

UNO started as a physical card game played with real cards. Players had to shuffle deal, and play by following the rules on their own.

Now, there is a digital version of UNO that you can play on your phone or computer. The game shuffles and deals the cards for you. It has fun sounds, animations, and lets you play with friends online.

The digital version is faster and easier. The game shows whose turn it is, and cards are drawn for you. You just click or tap to play. The game also helps follow the rules, so you don’t have to remember everything.

Even though the way we play has changed, the main rules and game style are still the same. It's just easier and faster now thanks to the digital version.

REFLECTION

In Exercise 1, I shared about Subway Surfers, a game I really enjoy. It is easy to play and very fast. It also needs quick thinking. I like how the game helps me relax and have fun anytime. I can even play it without WiFi or data.

In Exercise 2, I learned how UNO changed from a real card game to a game we can play on phones or computers. Even though we don’t use real cards anymore, the rules and the fun are still the same. The digital version is just faster and easier to play.

Overall, I now understand how technology can change the way we play games, but it won’t change what makes them fun.
