REFLECTION

Through these tasks, I have gained a lot of knowledge about how to apply what I wrote in Design Research Methodology and use the survey data to write discussion and analysis. I think this module is easier compared to Design Research Methodology, because in that module, I needed to do a lot of research, collect data and analyse them. In this module, I just needed to use the data I already collected and focus more on discussing the findings and writing the conclusion.

During the process, I noticed that writing discussion is not just about reporting the data. It also needs logical thinking and a clear structure to explain what the results mean, and to make sure it matches my research objective and research question. I used not only primary data but also secondary sources, which I needed to cite in text to support my findings. Besides, I also learned to paraphrase instead of directly copying, which helped me better understand and express the ideas in my own words.

For the flipbook, I had not used Adobe InDesign for quite a while, so I had to relearn the tools and get used to it again. This took some time, and I felt a bit bored because I needed to copy and paste the content, which was about 100 pages and think about the layout and image sizes. Furthermore, I didn’t know how to add page numbers in Adobe InDesign, so I searched for tutorials on YouTube. In the end, I am satisfied with the final outcome.

For the article publication, due to the word limit, I had to delete a lot of the findings and discussion that I had written in the Final Dissertation. I also had to write in shorter sentences to express my points, so I needed to think carefully about what was important to include and rewrite everything briefly. Because of this, I sometimes deleted parts too quickly and didn’t express my ideas clearly.

Lastly, thank to my supervisor, Dr Jinchi, for her guidance. With her feedback, I was able to complete this module and learn a lot. Her advice really helped me improve my overall dissertation and understand how to write in a clearer and better way.
